Glass Fillers, Bronze Powder, Release Agents, Poly Fiber II

Bare-Metal Foil offers two fillers: MICRO BULB FILLER is used to extend casting products and to give the cast product a lighter weight. POR-A-KAST can be made floatable with the addition of sufficient ( 1:1 by weight ) MICRO BULB FILLER. This makes it useful for aquariums or anywhere lightness is desired. SOLID SPHERE FILLER is used to extend casting products, but makes them heavier instead of lighter. This property is useful to give heft to a cast product. An item cast to look like bronze now can have the weight closer to bronze than the lightweight space-age material from which it is actually made.

Bronze powders are added to casting resins to give them a real cast bronze look. Use two parts powder to one part mixed resin by weight. When the item is fully cured it can be buffed with fine steel wool to bring out the patina of the real bronze within.

These are used for allowing new molds to release from the original objects or for allowing the release of newly cast items from molds. They come two ways, wax or silicone based and are packaged in aerosol or bulk containers in a variety of sizes. Both the wax based and the silicone based material can be washed off molded surfaces with solvents such as toluene, acetone, or industrial grade isopropyl alcohol. SYNLUBE 531 is a wax based release agent that is useful with our POR-A-KAST products to preserve the molds and to ease removal from molds. SYNLUBE 531 is good to use with thixotropic molding materials. This permits its use on vertical surfaces, where the wax based material keeps the uncured molding material from sliding off the original. POL-EASE 2300 is silicone based and is more universal than the SYNLUBE 531. Slipperier then 531, 2300 requires less of a build-up and can be used in most applications.

NEW! POLY FIBER II

Poly Fiber II is the latest and greatest in thickeners/thixotropes for turning pourable poly-urethane rubbers and plastics into brushable/trowelable systems.

Poly Fiber II has the benefit of being able to thicken both polyurethane rubbers and plastics. Until now, Cab-O-Sil® has been the thickener of choice for most rubbers such as Poly 74 Series products. Since Cab-O-Sil® is so light, it takes great care to mix in without getting too much airborne. Poly Fiber II is easier to mix in and is far less likely to “float” out of your
cup. In addition, Poly Fiber II strengthens the rubber, whereas Cab-O-Sil® is neutral in this regard. Poly Fiber II can also be used for thickening plastics such as Poly 15-6 and 1512X when making lightweight plastic mother molds/shells.

Easier to use and more cost-effective than other thickeners, Poly Fiber II is a must-try.
